Is this appropriate for a party favor at my 3 year olds b-day party?
It is an indoor swim party with Nemo as the theme. I was going to give each kid a real goldfish and goldfish bowl. Of course, I would keep the fish in its store bought plastic bag during the party and just insert the bag in the bowl and place each bowl at the seat each kid will sit at. What do you think?
I think its a wonderful idea. It isn’t cruel!! And who ever said its a hassle for the parents to keep it alive, come on now, a gold fish needs only food and a change of water maybe once a week or every two weeks. I would however provide a small amount of food for their new friend too. I would take a plastic sandwich bag and cut the corner off of it and put a few pinches of food in and tie it with a ribbon and there you have it, fish, bowl and the food. I think its a great gift and starter for children learning about life. Why is everyone calling a simple fish a pet. Please people! How can you classify a fish as a pet. You don’t have to do anything but feed it and change the water, a whopping 5 minutes to change the water every two weeks at the most, and about 5 seconds to feed it. You don’t have to walk it, pet it, change its food and water every day, take it to the vet, and it certainly won’t shed on your furniture or clothing and won’t mark its territory in your house or neighborhood or sniff the crotches of people who visit your home. You people act like ONE fish is going to cause you pain and agony and a change to your daily life.
